I've been trying to find player reviews for the new Tim Armstrong Hellcat. No one seems to have any posted anywhere and I can't find it at any dealer to try b/c they are apparently on backorder!!! Are they just so awesome that they are flying out of stores, or just so well priced that people can't pass them up?? Or both?? Just wanted to find out if anyone here has an opinion on them.

Well, I went ahead and ordered the Tim Armstrong as it was the best value concert style guitar I could find. I must say, it is leaps and bounds beyond any other acoustic in its price range.

One thing that really surprised me (and may be an oversight by the Chinese factory) was that mine has a BOUND fingerboard. I went back to check the website as I didn't remember any mention of a bound fretboard, and sure enough, all pics show and unbound neck... Otherwise, the frets are nicely dressed, binding on front and back of the body, and a very warm and projected acoustic tone. I haven't had a chance to check the sound of the pickup as the tuner button had been pushed down during shipping and drained the 9-volt battery, but that's easily fixed (as soon as I get some more 9-volts).

Point is, this thing is Chinese made, but far superior to any other acoustic in the price range, and had a few (welcome) cosmetic surprizes. So far, I'm enjoying her very much.

Hellcat - Well first off it's a fender and it's left handed! Has an almost synthetic feel, not plastic, but but almost ceramic in a weird way. Sounds excellent acoustic or amped. The tuner is so-so. I THINK that mine is a half step low, haven't proved that to myself yet.

Much more pleasant to hold all night than my dreadnought. Nice action, going to thin down on the strings and see how that goes, lead-wise.

Money well spent.

On a sidebar, I would welcome any discussion regarding financially successful songwriting done from remote residence - i.e. alaska

there is a right handed hellcat as well...for some reason ive noticed that the lefthanded one costs about 50 bucks more...i love my hellcat though..its not as bright sounding as i would like but it feels good and it doesnt feedback at high volumes so it could handle a gig..might replace the tuners later though...but they do hold the tuning very well though...the on board tuner isnt very accurate though but its a minor thing as i dont use onboard tuners anyway.....over all i think its an awesome guitar just wish it was a bit bigger

i'm lovin' my hellcat. i looked around a lot before i decided to purchase it, too. i love the color and the general look of it, and i like the fact that it's smaller then a dreadnaught and just a little bit bigger then a standard concert size. i might replace the machine heads at some point, but i'm in no rush. for the price, it can't be beat. i did have a hell of a time finding a good case for it, due to it's size. i finally settled on a good quality soft shell, where it stays snug as a bug in a rug until i'm ready to take it out and play. i find the onboard tuner to be fairly accurate, and as far as plugging in, i've had no issues at all. i get a nice, warm tone out of it when playing through a clean channel, and when i mess with the dials on my cheap line 6 amp, i can coax some creepy, wicked sounds out of that thing. bottom line is: if you're on a tight budget and want a decent guitar, this is a good choice. there's no sense in buying a piece of poo that won't stay in tune. tim armstrong and the fender team did a fantastic job making an affordable, good quality and gorgeous looking instrument.
