I play guitar and banjo. Been wanting to learn mandolin for years but don't know anyone who plays it so don't have anyone to learn from. I've never played a Fender acoustic guitar that I liked and wouldn't expect much from their mandolins either. Sometimes I think they should just stick to what they do best - making solid-body electrics!

Well, the solid bodies sell better obviously, but I've played a couple of decent acoustic Fenders. I know someone that plays the Fender mando and gets some good sounds with it.

 I'm glad someone spoke up and said there's a Fender acoustic they like, even if it is a Mando... Fender has been gradually making better guitars and I'm sure the Ensenada Factory is getting better each year. The Black painted Fender Acoustic sounds good to my ear, better than the others I tried in Guitar Center. I was impressed with the ease of playing and mid range tones. There's definitely been a improvement in acoustics in the last ten years. One of my friends in West L.A. has a really good sounding Fender Acoustic. But I think it was made in California a long time ago so it improves with age like fine wine!
