Hope this helps... I ended up with a cracked/split bridge on an old Washburn D10. The split ran right along where the saddle was embedded -obviously the point of most stress on the bridge. Being that it was a cheapy guitar, I didn't want to spend the money on repair as it came close to the purchase price. I let it sit for a year before I finally thought that there was no reason not to try and fix it myself since it was useless to me anyway. I superglued the bridge back on, let it set for a few days, strung it up and have been playing on it regularly for the last year! By my own admission, I only play at home and do not gig at all. Nonetheless, I do not avoid playing heavy rhythm and it stays in tune just fine. But that is just my own experience.
If it is your primary guitar or you gig with it, you may want to leave it up to a pro. Good luck!
