I recently purchased a 1989 Fender Redondo acoustic guitar that needs a bit of work. It was in a humid place, and suffered some rusted parts. As I removed them carefully, the 2 string tree screw heads twisted off leaving the threaded shafts in the headstock. There is barely any metal showing above the face of the headstock to grasp.
What is the best way to remove the brokn screws, andnot do further damage. They are pretty small to drill out, and are too small for my screw extractor kit. Any help would be appreciated. See photos.Image

Hi there....

I would live them there and just screw two new ones right on the side of them....
Also, before intall the two new ones...you can smooth the top of the broke ones to de level of the wood...

Just an idea...

I've heard that you can heat them with a soldering iron to aid removal (I guess it burns the wood a little around the screw), but I've never had the need to try it myself.

Good luck!
