New player, wanting to adjust the action on my CD-60. Anyone have specs or tricks of the trade to do this or should I just take it into the local music store for service? I understand that basically it's just trimming down the nut and the bridge to a desired setting but since I'm a newby, was wondering if this is something best left for those in the know instead of trying it myself. Thanks in advance for any input.

I have the exact same guitar and like you I thought the action was too high for me. At some other forum they suggested me the same thing, to do some tricks with the bridge, but I thought it was best to take it to it to the guitar store and they simply adjusted the truss rod and it lowered the action! Plus it made the little fret buzz disappear! ;-)
xx

I have lowered the action on several acoustic guitars. Buy a replacement saddle (I prefer bone), put the original away when you are done.
A piece of medium sand paper about 6 in. by 3 in. will work. Hold the new bridge straight up as if it were in the guitar and move it lengthwise along the sandpaper. Compare it's size to the original. It does not take much to lower the action. You will have to try it several times in the guitar with it tuned to pitch to get the height you desire.

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated. I'm going to stop by my local music store on the way home tonight to pick up (if in stock?) or order a replacement saddle. I always prefer to do stuff myself if possible. Gotta save the cash for other stuff I want to buy, like an amp! If that doesn't work out, then I'll take it in for service. I'll post a reply here of my results in case anyone else is looking to do the same.

Thanks!!

Hello, everyone! :)
Hobbyist, I made a special website devoted to fender cd 60 you might be interested in. You may probably be glad to learn about fender cd 100 or telecoustic fender guitar as its analogues.

i'll have to try that for my guild. action is a bit too high for this electric guitar player. i find the acoustic guitar alot harder for me to play.
