Are the Fender electric mandolins authentic sounding? Well built? Have good action?

Well, I'm not a mandolin player--but I picked one up & tried it at a store recently--it was fun to play.
Was it the best mandolin I ever picked up?
No, but I've tried some mandolins that are 2 o3 times as much, and have seen others that are above that.

For it's price range it is pretty good--especially considering the pickup.
I'd be playing non-traditional mandolin stuff on it--so take that with however much salt you need to.

But, for the price range--they are quite good, and if you're looking for something to learn on, bang around on, or just as a a side thing--go for it.
If you're a more serious mandolin player--check it out anyway--but you'd be better off with somebody else's opinion.

When I was a kid my friend's father had one. I don't remember exactly how it sounded. I'm sure it sounded fine and very "Fendery", but without doubled stirings I can't see it sounding much like a Mandolin. I never understood why they didn't make it with the right string arrangement.

Fender's mandolins have 8 strings, not 4.

I was thinking about the solidbody electric mandolins they used to sell in the 60's. Didn't even know they made any acoustic mandolins. I guess I should have known by the name of this forum, LOL.
