As far as the action and sound quality goes it is pretty much player opinion and i have found Fender to fit my tastes better without the need for an additional set up.

I can appreciate this....

I just picked up a Stratacoustic, and I must admit.....playing it unplugged it sounds like a baritone ukelele, LOL, but I figured what the heck, let's plug it in and see if it gets worse.......! Nope, sounds pretty good through a Fender Acoustisonic, a Fishman, and an Ibanez Troubador.

It currently has D'addarrios 12's and gives a nice jazzy flavor when I use half of the treble with full mid and full bass on the guitar and about 3 on the reverb on the amp. I have a set of Martin SP 10's to try when I do my next string change, and if I want a little more spank then you usually get from an acoustic Ernie Ball has a set of 9's.......

I admit to a minor bit of previous snobbery when it came to acoustics, high-end Ovations, Martin, Taylor.....but after this particular experiment, I will be looking at other guitars with an amp in mind, not how they sound unplugged.

Dropped off one acoustic yesterday to have a new nut/saddle installed and came home with a used Ovation Celeb(no wife to ask!). Love the Ovation! Hadn't played one since switching to electric a few years back. The neck and action are closer to electric than most and makes it easier to switch back and forth.
