I have a Fender DG acoustic. I got it when I was 18, so it's around 12 - 13 years old now. It has a gold '50 years of Fender' sticker on the back of the Headstock.

It wasn't too expensive new - about £185 english pounds.

I don't know too much technical stuff about it (I've never been too excited by acoustics) It's got a nice thick sound with lots of natural reverb. Rather annoyingly some of the frets are slightly proud of the board at the edges and the top E string has been known to get trapped under the fret end under (really) heavy strumming.
Also the original tortoise sratch guard peeled off (but I used it as a template and made a new one out of Fablon)

Apart from that its's great - it's had a hard life. It's been knocked over by inquisitve house rabbits more times than I care to remember, has rabbit teeth scratches in one corner, and hamster poo trapped inside (the cats are more respectful towards my guitars) has been bashed in many a drunk sing-along, spanked by nephews, and traveled to several new homes, and a recording studio. It's never had a case, and looks great.

An old friend of a guitar.

I have one. It is beautiful. Solid top. Gold grover tuners. Warm full sound. Decent action--not great, but doable.

I have one my Wife bought me back In 2007 I'm guessing somewhere around that year. It was a special at guitar center around 275.00. Great guitar made in S Korea it has held up really well in this dry Arizona climate. I have had it hanging on the wall and it just seems to play nicer every year. Gold Grover tuner it stays in tune very well. Delete repeated word spruce top with mahogany back and sides. I never appreciated this guitar until after a few years of playing. it has held up very well nice warm tone. Strings, GBE really ring nice, I joke ..like a violin.. My only gripe are the frets for some reason they can really turn seasoned fingers into mush quickly. They are tall narrow and somewhat flat on the top. sound awesome but rough playing. This guitar has a bone nut and bone saddle. I recently put Martin SP Medium strings on and they sound terrible I think they are too small for the guitar. This is the reason I came on to this thread I was hoping someone here might have commented on the proper size of string for this guitar. I know with the right Strings this guitar sound beautiful.

Give medium-light Clapton's Choice by Martin a try.

If your frets are flat on the top instead of round it indicates that a fret crowing is required. The frets flatten due to wear from playing or from someone levelling the frets with a file, Usually combined with fret levelling. The flat frets will hurt fingers and affect the guitar sound and tone. Problem is that this work would cost about $US200 and sometimes the instrument is not worth that much. However, I have had the same issues, did the job myself (UTube instruction) with tools purchased from eBay (levelling bar, crowning file, fret rocker, fret dressing file, blue painters masking tape and 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000 grades of wet & dry paper. Total cost about $40 but so far I've done 4 electrics, 2 acoustics and a banjo and could do many more. Takes about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to mask up and dress the frets so the $200 for a pro job is not excessive. Check that there is sufficient height of fret left to dress, fret height should not be less that say .035 inches feeler gauge, put a straight edge between 2 frets and measure underneath straight edge. Slow and easy is the way to success as the material comes off the frets very easily. Lightly hammer/press home the frets before working on them to make sure they are fully seated in their slots.
My 2 cents, Ross
