G'day all,
just about to pickup a CD220SCE. Sounded excellent in the store as it was being played by a pro.. I myself am a bit of a camp-fire player if you know what I mean but would like opinions from others out there that know this model and own/play this model.

look forward to your feedback.

Cheers

I bought one from Sweetwater about 6 weeks ago. Then while in Guitar Center last week I saw a used Guild -- solid mahogany all over, and a real beauty. I told the sales associate I wanted to consider trading my Fender straight up. I went home and looked up the Guild and saw it sells new for $597, and mine was $399. But the used one was priced at $390. I went home and got my CD220 and took it back to compare them. I will say this...the Guild was straight acoustic, and sounded DEAD when played side-by-side with my Fender (when played acoustically only--unamplified). The sales guy at the Guitar Center told me he could probably let me have the Guild for my guitar and $50. I replied that after hearing the dead sound of the Guild that I already had a better guitar, and was not interested.
This CD220 SC is the sweetest sounding acoustic I've heard in a long time--rivalling a Martin HD28 that I was considering buying for awhile. It sounds nearly identical to my $1000 Seagull (Spruce/Rosewood). That Asian-Striped Ebony used on the sides and back--combined with the solid Spruce top are an excellent combination of tonewoods that produce rich top end with deep full lower end sound. You will not be sorry if you go thru with this purchase!!!

It's great hearing reports like that. I'm from Aus and just received a call advising that my Guitar has arrived in the Store. I actually chose the Bubinga. Can't wait. Thanks for your feedback..

I have a CD220SCE Bubinga, actually this is my second one as American Airlines helped theirself to the first one on a trip back from Nashville. It was a beauty with a tight grain and great action. I bought the second one about 10 months ago, same thing but not as tight of grain and had to take it to the guitar hospital for repair two months ago as the lower bout has a slight split up to the bridge. Can't really notice it unless you look closely. It plays great also. It was braced on the inside in several places. I changed the strings for 11/50 to 10/50. Action, truss rod, and bridge were all set to specs. This guitar probably plays the best of the seven that I have. I run it through a Behringer ACX1000 acoustic amp, program 3 or 11 at 40% of reverb and chorus. The sound is great. This guitar is no Taylor or Martin but I think it sounds as good if not better and for the money you can't beat it. Just watch your temperature and humidity where it is kept.
