So, I bought a Fender Paramount PM-3C acoustic, and within the case was a soundhole humidifier. What I cannot understand is, when to use it. I live in north India where the climate is not moderate, its really cold in winter, way too hot and dry in summer and rains pretty well and is too humid during monsoon. So, say if I leave the guitar for 4-6 months in the case in my room and place the humidifier as instructed, would the humidity remain at required levels inside the case (I guess its 40-60%) , regardless of the humidity change outside; or does it have to be placed inside only when the humidity is low and remove when it's high , else the wood might swell due to over humidification. I have to leave town in a few days, and I'll be out for most part of the year, during which it'll go through summer and monsoon and probably see some part of winter as well. Sorry if this is all way too stupid, I tend to overthink at times and that is amplified by the fact that it's 3 am over here.

Pick up a weather station with interior sensors, like something from Ambient, or just for the interior and/or guitar cases, I use Sensorpush sensors, and added an internet bridge so I can monitor from my phone anywhere.

I find that, even though outside temp/humidity ranges from 10% to 60% and from ~35 to ~115, with my heating and AC, the interior of my home tends to sit between 40 and 50%, rarely dropping below 35%.

The problem with sponge type case humidifiers is they do not last more than a couple of months.
The more flexible systems like the Humidipacs last longer, and they tend to pull excess humidity from the air (to a degree). Those tend to last me about a year.
The sponge type will not pull excess humidity from the air in the case.

But without a way to measure/monitor, you're really shooting in the dark.

Here's a screenshot from the two guitars I monitor (I don't monitor the solidbody electrics)
