I just noticed a couple of changes on the Fender acoustics.

1- Many of the acoustics have D'Addario® EXP-26 Phosphor Bronze, Gauges .011 to .052! When I bought mine, the stock strings were Fender 60L Phosphoer Bronze, Gauges .012 to .053

unfortunately when I changed the strings after 5 months, I put GHS .010 and now after almost 4 months, I think they've been worn out. So in a few weeks, I'll definitely change to D'addarios - does anyone have them btw?

2- since when my beautiful CD-60has 2 stripe buttons??? I'm jealous now, I only bought mine on January and it only had one :(

Hello Wild Rose, I was reading your post and had to look at your guitar and I'm wondering what stripes are you talking about in the #2 question? By the way it is a beautiful guitar. :)

Okay,I got you now but you still have a beautiful guitar. I have the same problem with my Gibson J-185-EC, it has a strap button on the bottom but nothing for the strap in the top area. I will not drill any holes so I normally play it sitting down or run the strings on the strap under the strings on the head of the guitar. What do you do? :? 8)

thank you!

to tell you the truth I never play the acoustic by standing up, I just have to be seated somewhere :P But I'd like it to have that strap button so if I want I can be standing up!

btw you have a great guitar too, Gibsons are awesome but toooo expensive! I can understand if an electric guitar costs more than $2000, but why are the acoustics over $2000 as well??

Most tie the strap around the headstock. Or you could add a button to the heal.

for me....i connect the strap to the headstock....my Kingman is old enough that it only came with the pin on the bottom of the body, unlike the newer ones. i'm used to this now, it took a while, but now it's comfortable......

Well if your asking about what kind, I use 10s Gibson masterbuilt on my guitar and they last a long time but they tend to rust a little after a month or two. My hands do sweat while playing alot though. Oh, phosphor bronze and it's mainly the high E,B&G strings!

I play my Montara almost daily without exception. I use Elixir's and have had the same set on since I got the guitar in 12/07.

Also during the installation of the new pickup system the luthier put a bone saddle in the bridge, and it just brought out such a louder/nicer tone out of that baby than the plastic one.

I've got a question. I've got a Fender Sonoran. I know they've got stock 12s. Can they hold Martin Bluegrass 13s without putting too much stress on the bridge? Thanks.

do those Gibsons make a "warmer" sound of your Fender? because I know that Fender acoustics have a kinda "sharp" sound while th Gibsons are more "warm".

I can't give you a good answer because I've never owned a Fender but I know what your talking about (the fuller, warmer sound) I would give it a try and see it may make a difference. Good luck Rose and tell us if you try it and the outcome, please mam! :)

thanks for your reply!
I'll ask at the Music Store about the Gibson strings, otherwise I'll get the D'addario ones. I'll probably go on Friday, so I'll report back then
