hey I have a Kingman (hence my user name) and it is far superior to the Sonoran. I played the Sonoran, it was nice but the Kingman is so much better! I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Tha action is a little high, but I have gotten used to it. What I like about the guitar, is the neck because it is like my strat and teles. When you plug in, it sounds very nice for the money. Like I said, its not a Martin, Taylor, Gibson or other high end guitars, but I think it sounds pretty damn good.

I actually bought the guitar for a at an adult education class at a local high school. I didn't have enough money to get the Martin's yet. I liked what I had read about this model in acoustic magazine, it was rated very highly. When I played it, it was a bit stiff at first, but I adjusted to it and it sounded really good. It was more or less a stop gap purchase. The class started to play Hotel California, and none of us could bar chord our acoustics, so we all ended up using electrics for the rest of the classes. Go figure.

Good question. It's the Fishman but without the tuner. I was kinda disappointed when I saw there was no tuner. tehn again there may be a tuner and I am just a bit dense. The guitar is at the studio I take lessons at, so I can't be sure. Let you know Thursday.

I was wrong, it has the Fender CE-300 electronics. My bad. It still sounds good and is also a very attractive guitar. I would have gone for the Kingman, which I also played and liked a lot. For what I needed at the time, it was too costly at the time. I had my eyes on a couple of Martins and didn't want to go the extra money. I ended up with a martin 000 28H and DC 16RGTE Aura. Two very nice guitars, but you know, I still enjoy playing the Sonoran.

I have a Kingman (upper sonoran) and it has Fishman electronics and a tuner, its pretty nice. I love the headstock, a @#%$& to get in my case though, had to indent the case's lining so it could fit. I've had it for about a year now, its so great at gigs though it does feed back on my amp. (blues Deluxe) Are the Martins very good? I've heard the cheap ones (500-700) are very worth it, the one thing that bugs me is there is no dots or any inlays or that there is no gloss on the guitar reminds me of my Yamaha (oh that thing was horrible, strings like 2 inches from the fretboard, oh that thing was bad)

I love the Martins. I guess growing up, all I ever heard were that Martins were the best acoustic guitars. I can't disagree with that statement, though there are some pretty good guitar makers around. My second guitar ever was a Martin DCX1E and it was great. Had the classic Martin sound and fishman IV electronics. Sounded great with or without the amp. It was $630 then. I sold it on ebay cause I tended to play my strat and teles more. I also play an archtop and the Martin never got much play. I felt bad selling the Martin and then went and decided to get the 00028H which has no electronics. It just sounds nice and when you play, you can feel the whole box resonate. I wanted an 000 16 RTGE aura and thought I got one on ebay, only to find out it was a DC 16RTGE Aura. I wasn't too happy with it till I changed the strings and adjusted the neck. that baby now wails and you can feel the box resonate. I still like the smaller 000 and I am bidding on one. We'll see, if I get great, if not, that's ok. I don't get much feedback from the DC, unless I have the volume up too high. I guess we are always turning it up, especially when we play on stage with other electric guitars. There is something about playing an acoustic electric that has that jangly sound. You know, the Yamaha's are great guitars and you could have had the action lowered. I have to say this about the Sonoran, the gloss finish is great, sound is comprable when hooked up and well, it's a great guitar for the money. I say it compares well against the lower end Martins. I am going to go to the local GC and play a low end Martin and the Sonoran and see how they stack up against each other. As for the gloss finish, don't let that get in the way. Sound is the most important key. My 00028 has gloss all over and the DC 16 has the gloss top and satin finish on the sides and back. I could care less about that, like I said, sound and comfort of playing is important. I guess when it comes to guitars, I am more Zen like. when I played the 0028H, I wanted to buy a Electric 00016. They were out of stock. I saw the 00028 and well, it was a match, my guitar found me. Enjoy the 4th.
