I searched for threads about these--most I found were for the Aoustasonic amps.

So anyway--last night I stopped at a few music stores on my way home (Okay actually they were all out of my way.) At one I tired an Acoustasonic Strat. That's this one-http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0139700327
It's liked a Strat that's had the wood inside scooped out--it has the contours and feel of a Strat--just that it's an acoustic--and it's lighter.

I'm not referring to the Stratacoustic-http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=0967400306
That's basically an acoustic guitar shaped like a Strat in outline--still kind of cool in a way.

And forget about the Squier version-http://www.squierguitars.com/products/search.php?partno=0937400092-I played one of those last night too--for about 30 seconds--pretty cheap sounding and feeling.

No, my rambling is in reference to the Acoustasonic Strat--anybody have any experiences with them? I've been considering a new guitar for a few months and haven't found the right one yet. I want something different than what I have, and the Acoustasonic Strat fits that bill very well.

So, anybody have one? Stories to tell?

I played great in the store. It's acoustic sound was better than I expected. And I tried it plugged in with various settings on the guitar & the amp. It's a little more than some of the other guitars I'm considering, so I want to see if anyone knows how well they might hold up.

Thanks.

I've seen them but haven't played one yet. I think that with individual piezo pickups under each saddle that it would sound pretty good though when amplified.

Hey Zontar,
I messed around and found a Acoustasonic strat on consignment at the music store. It played just like my Standard Strat. Very cool. I had a few bucks, so I purchased it for the dirt cheap price of $250. To be honest, I really didn't know what I had. All I knew is that it looked great and played sweet. Later I checked online and the list price for these is ~$1049, but they sell for around ~$750.

Basically, its a carved out Alder body with a composite top that's the same size and dimensions of a std Strat. The one I have is a nice burgundy color just like the one leaning against the Acoustasonic amp. Ambient tone is not loud, but is clear and full. Sounds pretty good through any amp, but you can really fool people with a good acoustic amp 8) .

Great for practice when you can't plug in, especially if you already play a strat. The neck is identical to my MIM strat, but the action is just a tad higher. Gives me a little work out. Also works out for a nice change at the jam sessions. Never hurts to have some acoustic rhythm guitar tossed in here and there. I also use it as my travel guitar since an amps is not required. If you can find one cheap, I'd pick it up. You won't be dissapointed. I play mine more than I play my electric.....

Only $250? I'd have bought the one I tried out if it was only $250--and with the rest I was prepared to spend I'd have bought a second guitar or a practice amp and some accessories or effects, etc.
