The LED inside the cavity of my Paramount guitar lights up when a cable is inserted into the output jack and remains on. If I unplug the cable from the jack, the LED turns off. Whether the other end of the cable is plugged into an amp (powered on or not) makes no difference.

This behavior strikes me as odd. I e-mailed Fender Customer Relations and they appear to be stumped. Any ideas?

My first guess: that Paramount has a stereo jack double-acting as a power switch when the (mono) plug is in.

Paramount series service manuals are on the support pages, but seems Fender thinks nothing can go wrong with the jack; its not even listed as a separate part.
