Hi all,
i have a fender acoustic CD-60 guitar. I put heavier strings on it, 12-53 and the action height from around the 7th fret down is very high. I noticed the neck now has a bend when the guitar is strung and tuned and is straight when string tension removed.

So i guess I need to adjust the truss rod. My question is, what size tool do i use for this and where can I get one? I tried a 4mm and 5mm Allen key but these don't fit. The size is somewhere in between.

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

Garrett

Most Fender truss rod I know use SAE allen wrench , not metric.
1/8 or 3/16 inches.
Best is to have both set, SAE and Metric

You may live in european country to talk metric ?

Fender's got several different key sizes depending on where and when a guitar was made.
Imperial sizes 1/8" or 3/16", some basses 5/32.
Metric sizes most likely 4mm or 5mm, but I've also seen 4,5 mm.

On a CD-60 (Fender or Squier), try a 5mm hex key first. The neck is kinda skinny, so loosen the strings before adjusting and let the neck set before retuning. Go by 1/4 turn adjustments at a time.

Not more IMO and wait 15 minutes and more before next 1/8 turn.
