I'm having a blast playing it. It sounds so cool. It plays surprisingly well, and is of very decent build and quality. :D

Congrats!!! I've played them before, they're really nice. I have the VM 70's Jazz Bass with a BadAss II.

Do you recommend that I switch out the bridge for a Badass? Will it really make that much difference?

I like how mine sound with my '87 Fender, but I have the BA III on that, it sounds amazing opposed to the original bridge. So when I got the Squier, I decided to try out the BA II. It does sound better, I play alot of open string (root note) and play the scale on diff't strings, and i like the tone/sustain on the open string when I do this. I like it. I don't know if you would like it. Some people on the forums think it's better with the original bridge. Just like them, my opinion, I like the Leo Quan's product. I'd go for it, but that's me - plus my bill for the whole thing, BA II and instalation plus stringing and intonation was less than $65. I did buy the strings before getting the Squier, so I didn't include the $20 for the strings in the $65. Good luck.

I just purchased a Squire Fretless and I am pleasantly surprized how it sounds and feels. Now I just could not leave it at that though. I am replacing the SD PUP's with Fender Custom Shop PUP'S I am replacing the bridge with a vintage Fender bridge and Vintage reverse tuners. Also just figuring out what strings to use?I have been a Roto man for a long time so if there are any suggestions fire away! I will keep you up to date on the outcome.

Thanks fellow Bottom Dwellers  [/quote]

I highly recommend TI flats for this bass:

http://www.juststrings.com/toi-jf344.html

They're pretty pricey but they last forever (you could easily get 4-5 years out of them) and are extremely responsive for flats -- great for fretless or any bass really and (being flats) won't eat up your fretboard. And yes I have them on my Squier VM fretless too!

Good luck!

Is the fretless bass with the frets "marked" on the fretboard that much harder to play than a fretted bass?

Kind of ! You have to be spot on the fret lines in order to get good intonation .Plus adding a little vibrato on some notes will give a more natural sound or let's say it will give soul to the note !In other words will make the bass sing !Takes some getting used to and lots of practice and when you get it right and get acustomed to it is a bass guitar you will not want to stop playing .

The badass II made a serious difference! It was more punchy and brighter, sustain was better, I also replaced the strings (roto sound flat wounds) check out the video of my squire fretless with a badass II at http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseacti ... d=35735220
I installed a pear pickguard and replaced the knobs with the standard jass bass knobs (slapin, funky) enjoy… 8)

Hi:

I don't have a Squier Version, I have the MIM Std, The Squiers I've tried I would call pretty equal too. They don't last long here in stores though 8)
