This showed up on our local Portland, Oregon CL. Never seen anything like it before. Seller is asking $1000. I thought other folks may be interested who like Squiers and Fenders. Enjoy!

title- "Fender Squire Tele Bass Prototype 3 pickups 6 pounds"
ad- "This Bass is a prototype that I received by luck. Its Handmade
When Squire made the modified 70s Nashville tele guitar (had three pickups just like a strat, but with the stock twangy tele pickup in the back....) simultaneously they put out the modified 60s P Bass with the big fat humbucker RIGHT next to the finger board. Like an Gibson EB0 pickup. My suggestion to a friend at fender was a bass just like the Nashville strat. With the same alder body they use in the sting bass. they did it but they used a single coil, option to humbuck....) like the EB0 pu but made it a single pickup. They made a few of the the three pu versions to test these to try and sell the idea.... so this neck is handmade. It has handwound pickups priced at about 700 bucks on their own.
They were having the same sales off of the single coils and were more focused on coming up with more versions of "modified" 70s fenders .... So the three pu idea was scrapped for easier money. It has a great hollow growl that isn't something you can imitate. as a result theres' another cavity for the big pickup, making it punchier than you can imagine. This one. And They used the old genuine FENDER plate on the pickup from fender leftovers. Very hard to photograph. But this bass goes from bootsy to jaco to whooping p bass. Marcus. Bona. Its very light made of a solid alder. 6 pounds. A gorgeous handmade bass."

Pardon me sir but I am more that a little cautious when I am confronted by a "hand -made Squire prototype" that looks auspiciously like a standard Squire Tele-bass with a couple of added Jazz bass pickups and for only a $700 mark-up!

What you have there may indeed be a Squire prototype, hand-built by Leo Fender's grandson and blessed by the soul of James Brown, - but I doubt it.

Craigslist is full of sellers who are full of something else and I think you have one here.

Now it may be a great bass; and it may be a great idea; and I may wish Squire would build such a beast; but that don't make it legit or worth $1000!

just my dos centavos.

your witness...
