I love my Musicmasters, one is a Squier.

But I sure would like a short scale Squier Jazz bass, especially if it was made as well as the Musicmaster was, string through body bridge, maple neck, painted headstock.

I have an SX short scale jazz bass that I would replae with a Squier if there was one.

Have you demoed a short scale Jaguar? I haven't, but like the long scale ones I've demoed. For the money, a great buy.

I havent demo'd any Jaquar basses. No stores close to me to come across one. For the $100 I spent on my SX Jazz shortie, it's been a great buy. The only reason I don't gig with it is that I always want two basses, and the Musicmasters have almost identical output levels so any switching I do or need to do I'm golden at the board. THe SX output is pretty low, new pups would probably remedy that but no hurry.

The SX stuff is cosmetically very good and among some of the best finishes to come out of China. The hardware and electronics though are typical Asian quality...so yes an electronics upgrade to something like Fender or Seymour Duncan pickups would likely make a huge difference. The problem with that is that the pickups may or may not be interchangeable without doing some routing.

One thing about the Squier Jaguar is that the output is plenty hot because it has active EQ.
