My CV 50's P. Flipped lefty.

Got tired of waiting for Fender to come out with a left handed single coil P bass.

The nut popped right out with a gentle tap and snapped back in reversed no problem. Bridge holes and saddles are all universal so I just had to adjust action and intonation for the reversed strings. I used carefully placed single drops of dark nail polish to make lefty side markers on the neck, looks factory!

The only real modification is that the thumbrest/tugbar was in the way so I removed it and placed a plastic disc under the strings next to the pickup. The disc serves as a custom thumbrest for me.

The bass feels great for lefty play standing or seated. As a lefty it does neck dive down about 45 degrees. Not a problem for me. I have an old Lefty P that's neck heavy because the body is so light, so I'm used to it. Most importantly, with TI flats and a foam mute, this bass delivers the SCPB sound I was hoping for!

Here's my little precious Precision, a left-handed Squier Precision Bass Special. :) I bought her in August 2008 and she must have been produced in the second half of 2007 based on the s/n. I love this bass very much, and since I don't have the money to buy a Fender American Standard P-Bass, I think I'll buy another one of this and customize that one. But for now, and for ever - MY FIRST EVER, BELOVED BASS:

Hey! Thanks for the input, reading that I found myself thinking I would buy a CV '60's P-Bass and play it reversed as you do, the only question I would like to ask: isn't it a bit uncomfortable to play? I mean with the knobs and the cable input being all the way up there.

I spent some time trying the right handed display model at Guitar Center and decided that the shape and design could work OK as a lefty. I've had the bass a couple of months now and I've gigged with it several times .

The knob locations have been no problem. Reversed, they sit high and far enough back that they are not in the way but are easy to reach. The cable jack position is a bit of a nuisance when connecting and disconnecting. I loop the cable around the strap and it stays out of my way during performance. I also had to get used to reaching for the tuning keys which hang below the headstock instead of above. It's not the perfect fit of a true left handed model but none of these inconveniences hinder my playing and that's what's important to me. I've adjusted quickly and I'm completely comfortable playing it now.

I kind of like the way it looks reversed as a lefty too. I play mostly blues and R&B and I think that the upside down design gives it a bit of unique mojo.

Thank you very much for your answer... Well, time for me to have a look at the right-handed Squier models now... :)
