I can't say wether it's better or worse than any other bass - but it sounds really nice, the craftsmanship is top notch, and it looks so beatuful! When we're sitting on the sofa, my wife keeps saying "what are you staring at?"
I'm staring at the bass!!! It's as pretty as t*ts.

that ain't so bad. Get her playing and jam in the house. Give you something to do on one of those weekend nights where you don't want to go out. Sure beats watching tv all night.

My friend, you need to confront this Martin guy, and give him a ruddy good slap.

nah, he is better looking than me. nice natural complexion and soft on the hands. who can blame her? Although my classical guitar is a fender and I have to say that even though she is the only one that plays it... she seems to play it a lot.

It looks really nice - that's all I know.
If it's as good quality as the P, then it's pretty chuffing good!

They had both in stock when I bought mu CV 50's P, and I really thought hard about which one to get - I think P basses are pretty hansome!

I just bought the Squier Classic Vibe 50s P. I've already got too many basses but I couldn't pass this one up for the money. I'll post a review if anyone's interested once I get new flat wounds on it and do a proper set up.

Regarding getting your wife a piano--hey, do it if she wants to learn to play. My wife of many years has never played an instrument in her life, but suddenly a few months ago she decided she wanted to learn to play piano. So it was off to the music store. We wound up buying a nice Yamaha electronic that looks like a piano, fits the size and decor of the living room where she wanted it and the sound is very good. It has weighted keys and sounds like a really good apartment sized upright acoustic. She's got a few method books and I'm helping her with the theory end of it. In 3 weeks she actually is getting somewhere on it and practices at least an hour a day. If she doesn't she says "my chops will get bad if I don't" I'm helping her sight read as these books don't give you much help. It's really nice to see her finding a new interest like this and making progress. She's not ready for gigging and probably doesn't really want to, but it's nice to be able to share music with her. Piano, starting from scratch as an adult is no easy instrument to learn so I've got to hand it to her.

And now she doesn't mind a bit stopping in on weekends to a music store. I head for the bass department--she goes to pianos. :D

scuse me guys my bassist has a hard time deciding whether to get a squier vintage vibe 60s p-bass or an older model (06-07?) MIM FENDER p-bass..he needs something to replace his broken '99 jazz. i've heard and seen my friend try out the fender and it sounds alright and looks alright but hes having second thoughts because the squier looks even cooler and it attracts his attention. Did any of you guys compare the sound of the 60s squier to the newer fender? where we live, we've never found one vintage vibe bass yet. Also the price of the fender is 440? which is for sale at BESTBUY *lol...* and the squier is 350? so please help out :? .. which one might be better overall in performance and reliability?
