And they get another 350 out of me.

I hate to piss in anyone's Cheerios, but unfortunately I've had a serious issue with mine. I don't know if you read this: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=91180 It is a heads up to you guys, just in case. Hopefully it won't be.

This is not good! I'm going have to call AMS this morning to schedule a return.

Has no one else received a Bass VI since CPL? As others have mentioned there are other forums that have mentioned Fender reject earlier shipments. Seems it would be less costly to have a Fender rep at the factory to do a final QC check than to ship the instruments across the Pacific Ocean twice.

I received yet another "we're sorry for the delay" e-mail from Musician's Friend today. I'll probably get them once or twice a week until they ship it. I'll be traveling on business next week. That's when it will show up.

I'm hoping that you guys won't run into the issue that I did and they actually got their quality control under control. That sucked, but it's all dealt with now. I sent it back and got refunded. At least AMS has good customer service, so at least I got something good out of the whole situation by knowing that.

By the way, here is the replacement I'm getting instead: Image

I found a really good deal on one with a serious discount (almost $200 off of regular price) at Amazon.com and it should be here in a few days. I didn't order one from AMS because they didn't have any in stock. Let's see how this one pans out. I liked what I've seen in demos and such and it's specs.

Nice bass CPL! The body looks as interesting as the Fender, and the fixed tail piece should make it easier to keep in tune.

I also got a Schecter Diamond J Bass yesterday from AMS for dirt cheap. It was listed as a scratch and dent, but there wasn't a damned thing wrong with it. I guess because the box was open and they couldn't sell it as new. I have to say this is the best bass I've played in 20 years! No joke. I couldn't believe how nice the neck is on it and the action is top notch. It's heavier than the Squier Jazz I have, but I like that because it's very solidly built and tight. It also has a 21-fret neck, which is a definite plus and the reason I bought it in the first place. I need that high "E" for a particular song I'm playing.

I know I just bought a Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass over a month ago, but it just can't compete with this so I'll either relegate it to back up status or try and sell it. The Squier sounded really good, but to be honest I was never thrilled with how the neck felt to me. It just feels too thin and I'm not to crazy about the finish on the neck. I suppose I would eventually have gotten used to it, though. With the Schecter, it just feels like it's custom made. I don't find my self struggling at all, or feeling uncomfortable with it. It fits better. If I had to do it all over again, I'd would have passed on the Squier and went with the Schecter. I guess I was enthralled with my Squier Custom Telecaster (which I still am, I still love that guitar and play it all of the time) and thought that would carry over to the Jazz. Unfortunately, it didn't I'm not knocking the Squier, but it's just not for me. I suppose bass guitars aren't one size fits all. :P I'll bet there are those who feel the opposite. You know how that goes.

Well, I do have a pic of it, but I have no clue on how I can post it here from my desk top, so I'll just post a pic of one I got from the web, to give a general idea. Just imagine it a little more glossy.

OK, more delivery news. The next batch should arrive at MF about a week from today. I see that the new date posted for the sunburst is mid-February so there is still a good sized backlog of orders. I'm told mine should ship on or about January 27th. Despite having ordered this at the end of last September, I am 12th in line for a sunburst. Eleven people are still ahead of me!

Good luck with that. Hopefully, yours won't be a turd like mine was. Maybe with these delays it's possible that they might have gotten their $@!& together with those. I did contact Fender about the whole thing, maybe they actually listened.

By the way, speaking of Bass VI guitars, the Ultra VI arrived today. It's a really nice instrument. Now I have to figure out the appropriate amp to use for it.

Rec'd another computer generated apology e-mail from MF. Am going to press them today for the free gig bag they offered some time back.

$@!&, that sucks. Then again, it could be that there is a chance that quality control got a boot up their $@! because of what happened with me, ChopperDave, and who knows who else and they are redoing the whole batch. I'm being optimistic in thinking so. I know you're going to be really pissed if you get a dud, adding to the fact that you have extra time tacked on to wait and see. Hopefully, these will be OK. I know what a bummer it is if it isn't.

I'm still bummed out about, even though I have the Schecter. I've wanted a Fender-style Bass VI instrument for years, but an original is so out of reach and I've never came across any of the previous reissues. I know there is a Japanese-made reissue Bass VI in the works, but that thing is around $1300, I believe. I can't afford that right now. I can't also afford to take a gamble on another Squier, either. That's why I went elsewhere. Plus, I didn't like the way Fender handled the situation at first, so why should I give them my money, cheap as it was? It's the principle of the matter, not the price. That's why I got pissed off. Don't blame another business for your screw up, fix it instead.
