Hello all!
Can anyone please tell me when the Squier Bass VI will be released, for sale, available?

I have bought one on pre-sale. The ship date is pushed back one day at a time...each day.

Thanks!

I'm kinda late to the party. I just discovered the Squier VI today! We Forumites need better notice of new product releases. Harmony Central has had a thread on these since the beginning of July. OK, done ranting. :x

Musician's Friend says the sunburst and black guitars will ship 10/4 and, if you want white, it ships 10/15. No one has these on the shelf, not Sam Ash, Sweetwater or AMS. In fact, AMS has the white shipping in November!! :(

Looks like Squier struck gold. Now how about a Squier XII at a great price?? 8)

AMS has the sunburst model listed as expected on next Friday (10/11,) according to their product page for it. I'm going to order it within this week, probably. Hopefully, the date is accurate and I'll get it the following week. If not, I can wait. I've waited quite a few years for something like this to come along, so what's a week or two, or a month?

I received my Squier Bass VI last week, Oct 2 I think. Olympic White. It was set it pretty well. I did have to adjust the bridge by raising it on the bass side. Very satisfied so far. My only complaint is that I suspect foam under the pickups, no springs on the adjustment screws. I have not confirmed this but will be investigating/fixing this issue later. I must say, I am very satisfied with the quality & price. Also, it is more faithful to the original Bass VI, as opposed to the Fender Pawn Shop model. I don't know about the Pawn Shop model, but the 2013 Limited Edition Fender Bass VI ($1300.00) is made in Japan. It is printed on the neck, just in case someone might like to know.

Well this is a bummer: The date has been moved to 12/26 (for the sunburst model) of this year. I've already ordered one, so I guess I'll get it when I get it. Hopefully, there could be a chance it might come sooner, by some miracle, but I doubt it. I'm looking forward to playing it, anyhow.

FWIW my ship date was pulled in from 12/31/13 to 11/1/13. I'll keep looking for updates. It seems that the sunburst dates are farther out than those for the black or white models.

I assume the holdout is on Fender's end. I suppose they aren't ready to ship yet, or haven't made enough of them to do so?

I think they didn't know how well they would sell. For me this is a niche guitar, nothing I would play everyday. It is more like a seasoning to add to my sonic stew  so the value I'm receiving for the money I'm paying is right for me. The Pawn Shop version was a little pricey for something I wouldn't use that often.

I think this is a great strategy for Fender. These reissues of the older products should bring in more revenue in an otherwise very slow guitar market.

I'm glad they put it out. I've always wanted one of these for years, but never could afford or even came across any originals, reissues, or whatnot. The Pawn Shop one is cool, but it's not exactly like the original and I never wanted any other brand of them. It's not because they're bad to me, but it's an aesthetic thing. I just bought a Squier Vintage Custom Telecaster and love the thing, so I'm not picky on what it says on the headstock as long as it has the same design.

Actually, in my opinion the 'Bass VI affair' feels like it has been a project of our current congress. First off was the 2013 Fender 'Limited Edition' Bass VI. Around $1300.00. Next, Fender Pawn Shop Bass VI. Around $700.00. Not a direct copy of the old 6er but interesting. Then, here comes the Boom a Squier VI very faithful to the original Bass VI. Yours for 350.00. I received a Squier as a present, but had been looking at the Pawn Shop model not knowing about the Squier. Fender appears to have taken the money and run approach to releasing the Bass VI again. But at least I do have one in my hands. Maybe I missed the memo, but customer appreciation day probably got cancelled this year.

I remember at some point, fairly recently, there was a custom shop version that seemed to go for around $4000 or so, too. Unfortunately, I don't have a custom shop wallet, so I have to make do within my budget means. I find the Squier brand more than adequate, from what I own and have played and heard in the past. I actually prefer them over a lot of Fender stuff (especially the Mexican-made guitars,) but that's my taste and to each their own. I'm not hung up on the name on the headstock like a lot of other people might be, or have a conniption because it's not made in the US. I've had US-made stuff that was crap too (a prime example is a 1993 USA Jazz Bass I had,) so it's not necessarily the be all end all of products. There's good and bad in anything you can buy, no matter where it is made. Besides, you can always make your own modifications to your own specifications.

My delivery was pushed back another week to 11/8/13. I wonder what's really happening with these.

I noticed the release date has now gone from 12/26/13 to 1/9/14 for the model I ordered. Just about another two weeks. Maybe they are still growing the trees for the wood. :P Oh well, not much to do about it but wait.

I see MF is offering a free Fender bass gig bag with the purchase of any Squier Vintage Modified bass. I thought it was an offer from Fender, but it seems to be MF's way of holding on to Squier VI orders . . . or maybe enticing some into switching to a bass already in stock. My date has held fast - 12/31/2013.

That's funny, since I just bought a Vintage Modified Jazz Bass, but I didn't get it from Musician's Friend and it didn't come with a free gig bag. Hopefully, they've improved those bags from a few years ago, unless the one I had was a dud (it came with a Mexican Standard P-Bass I once had that included it.) The zippers became totally brittle and broke off and the whole thing became useless. I had to throw it away.

I've tried looking around a little bit online to see if anyone (at least in the USA) has one in stock, but came up empty. I've seen a couple of people have them in demo videos and I'm wondering where in the hell did they get them. I guess they had a few available.
