Bought the MIJ Jazz new in 1986 and added EMGs right-away. Played actively for about 4 years and basically put the bass in the closet until about a year ago and picked up playing again (children tend to change priorities). I’m pretty pleased with the general sounds I’m able to dia- in except what comes from the G string. Playing above the C on that sting tends to sound pretty thin…..Couple of questions:
Would active PUPs output/response decline over time? Maybe time for new PUPs?
I do not remember changing the pots out when the EMGs were added. If the PUPs should still be OK, what would be a good way to go with new pots?

Suggestions /Observations Appreciated

Did you put new strings after so many years ?

Chance bass need a good set up ; mostly neck bow + intonnation

Active pickups won't décline after years, battery yes !

EMGs require their own pots, which are included with the sets of pickups they sell. If you skipped the pot conversion back when you inst. the pus. - That could be your problem.
