Just received my Squire Black/White Mike Dirnt P Bass and was wondering if I could give it a more vintage look by adding a pair of the chrome 51 P Bass Pickup/Bridge covers. Not sure on the pickup cover as the Dirnt Bass has 2 pickups as opposed to the single on a 51 P Bass. Anyone know if these will fit on the Dirnt? While the Dirnt looks like a 51 P Bass the specs might be different on a Squire Dirnt. Noticed there are plenty of cover sellers on Ebay. Help Appreciated. :?:

The covers are not intended to work on the Dirnt. The bridge cover will work on the Squier Dirnt but not the Fender one. The pickup cover is ill advised on either one. It really isn't needed with the split coil pickup and the pickguard is not cut to accommodate it on the Fender or Squier Dirnts.

I'm a fan of the covers on basses that actually need them or benefit from them. The Dirnt doesn't need them. I can see using the bridge cover though to protect the bridge on the Squier Dirnt. I think you'd find the pickup cover limiting and probably wind up taking it off. If you expect to ever upgrade to a high mass bridge (which also isn't such a good idea on the Squier) then don't put the bridge cover on as it doesn't work with some high mass bridges such as the one on the Fender Dirnt.
