Hello. I have a VM fretless bass with the Ebonol fingerboard. It needs to be leveled flat and am wondering if anyone has successfully sanded ebonol. If so, how did you do it? Did you use the same technique used with wood? After leveling, how did you polish it to get the black gloss back?

Thanks for any info!

Ebonol is often applied in layers, being sort of a laminated process. There may be composite, fiber layer, more composite, another fiber layer, etc. You don't want to get to the first fiber layer. I've never sanded one or heard of it being done, but if you have to then you have to.
