I'm looking for a good set of pickups to put in my P bass. I play metal, classic rock and some punk. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

As a metal/hardcore guy, I'd recommend EMG. I have the active ones now on my Fender. I was thinking of getting EMG HZ for my Squier VM this summer. I hear Duncans are good too. I have the Duncan's Designed on the VM now. It sounds really good. This is my 1st passive pups in a long time. All else have been actives. Good luck man. :)

EMGs sound ok but if I were to buy some would I have to make room for the batteries or something? Do you think everything would fit?

You'd only nd room for the battery if you go active. Mine was already set up from factory as active so it was plug n play per se. With the P basses I know they hide the batt behind the pg by the knobs - EMG give you they're own knobs by the way - and make sure it's secured. I was recommending the EMG HZ cuz it's passive, if you want that route. :)

I'm putting the Seymour Duncan Basslines Quarter Pound P-Bass pickup in my Squier P-Bass this week. I'll let you guys know how it turns out...

Just got the bass back today. It sounds a lot better with the Seymour Duncan in there. It's a lot punchier with loads more output. It also got a setup and new strings. Sounds like a different bass!

The only thing different when I got my '87 back after the EMGs were that the volume was louder, and the P pup was punchier. The J pup sounded louder but has the same sound as the original. I like how mine turn out.
