So last summer I posted images of my Squier Strat in the Strat club that my son had airbrushed a cool flag design on the pickguard.

So he just finished my Squier Musicmaster bass that he also painted the pickguard on. Little joke in our family that hey, dad is "Grumpy" in the am without his coffee, and the nickname kind of stuck. So he took the idea from the background image on my cell phone and came up with this. He combined some handpainting and airbrushing to make a nice image with great shading details. It's a funny thing with our family and something that makes my bass distinctive. Love the artwork and the guitar, nice black/white color scheme.

Thanx all, glad you like it. Def a conversation starter at gigs.

He just finished a pickguard for another kid in town that has C3PO on it. Came out very cool and the owner was thrilled with it.

Sounds like he could go into business doing that. Should be worth at least $100 per job.

That's what he's hoping for BrotherDave. A little extra coin for school ya know.

At this point, he asks the person to give him the pickguard removed from the guitar and electronics, just so he doesn't have the responsibility of their guitar. And then he's charged $75 for C3PO and the guy was ok with that.

If people want to have the pickguard done, we've recommended so far that they get a replacement one for painting. On like a G&L Strat they should probably keep the original one as is in case they sell it in the future or whatever.

Now he's doing a helmet for someone and some other guitar ideas have been floated too. I just got my bass body back from the guy that clear coated it last night. He painted the bass "loosely" designed after a Clapton crashocaster design. It's bright and obnoxious and I love it. I did get a 2nd musicmaster body for him to paint too, just in case. Now it's off to the luthier for reassembly and set up.

That's where it started, kids picked up on "Grumpy" right away on our trip. Apparently I'm a little "edgy" before the am coffee pick-me-up.
