What do you mean? Why does he have a sig bass? Why do so many bass players hate him?

I'm not a Fallout Boy fan, I think pretty much the reason a lot of bassist hate him is because he's not the most talented bass player in the world but still made it big, so there is a bit of jealousy there.

Have you looked on the Squier website? It's probably not that bad, I would say you are better off with the vintage modified precision bass though which is around the same price.

I suppose Fender saw him as an investment, but I think they made the right choice making it a Squier signature because I doubt all the emo/pop-punk fans would pay £400 for a mexican one. Round here he's made a pretty big influence on the amount of bass players, quite a few people have starter picking up basses and bashing out root notes Pete Wentz style with him as their idol.

And he's big because, well I guess he's got a pretty big fan base of 14 year old girls who know no better :(.

Yeah, I mean I know a lot of bassist all think "why the hell does he have a sig bass?! He doesn't deserve one" but I think it's a pretty good move by fender to bring in the money.

Well yeah Pete Wentz isn't the greatest bassist in the world. What kind of music are you playing?

Most bass players will be able to play punk and blues. I would just say look for a bassist that is good, they should be able to play any style of music you throw at them and ultimately, every bassist is different, they might primarily be a jazz player but fit in perfectly with your situation.

Oh yeah, if you're playing punk, don't just find a bassist that looks "punk", if they're a Sid Vicious style "give it a snarl and just play root notes" don't go there. You need a bassist with some interesting lines that really adds something and carries the song.
