Squier is very proud to introduce its new Telecaster® Bass and Telecaster® Bass Special, both of which present an exciting new sonic and stylish twist on a long-familiar design.

I'd love a Telecaster Bass. Single single coil p'up. Just throw it upside down and make a Reverse Telecaster Lefty Please!

Only seeing one pickup on the single coil one so what does the switch do?

When will these basses be released into stores and online retailers?

I'd like to know this as well. I put in an order for one at my local dealer (they're ordering one of each so I can try them both out, but going on the pictures alone, I'm partial to the single-coil version). Any news? Thanks.

Woah thats legit! Do they play as well as the Fender series basses, Will Fender ever release their own telecaster bass model in that style?

"single-coil pickup and three-way switching among special tone circuits, which feature a modern bass sound (middle switch position, volume and tone controls), softer "double bass" sound (neck switch position, volume control only) and authentic tic-tac "baritone" sound (bridge switch position, volume control only)."

Looks like a fun bass to own and play. Has a very nice retro look and vibe that I quite like. Sexy too.

These are monstrosities. Novelty crap, for the serial collector.

If they're retro, there's a reason they died before anyone heard of them.

If they're not retro, it's a sign that Fender's finding it tough selling it's own brand.

Well, rats! I was hoping they might at least sound good.

Was the build quality bad? Was the sound absolutely horrid?

Thank you for the insight!

Well, they only say it`s a new twist on a long-familiar design. Probably more "classic" than retro.
I my self is very fond of the Tele-design and with Squier prices, not gutting my wallet, I love the idèa. :D

Take care!

khickey3492 - don't listen to the comments from nrlincoln - someone who has never held/played/heard the instrument.
I'm looking forward to checking out the single coil version. I made one very similar to this but with a 30" scale and no tone switching.
If I like what I hear and if I like the slightly longer body, I'll be buying one in vintage blonde.

+1 Agreed!

Gunny, that would look really sweet with your tweedy TV Bassman amp! Hope it sounds as good as it looks. :)
