this may seem like a dumb question but i want to change the nut on my two Squier precision basses, and i don't know if it needs a round bottom nut or a flat bottom nut. the two basses are a Squier Affinity Precision Bass, and a Squier Vintage Modified Precision bass . help will be much appreciated :D

why do you want to change the nut? In my opinion man..if its not broken, don't fix it. I mea i could see if you wanted to put some new pickups in it...or change the pick guard or switch the bridge out.

You have to remove the old nut to see what style it is.
If the nut channel is made for a flat bottomed nut, than that is what you have to use. The opposite is also true.

I don't know of too many people who start changing nuts in Squire instruments.

These basses are usually for beginners who have to learn to play before worrying about nut materials. They are not going to retain the value of a new nut installation.

At the end of the day - your squire is still only worth $150- $200 used., with a new nut or stock.

Have fun playing bass.
