I know it's kind of religion, but I saw the thread in a Squier guitar-forum.

I really love my Squiers, and I wouldn't pay 3 times the price for a standard Fender.
My main love is my Deluxe active Jazz Bass, and at some point my P-bass might have to make way for another Squier.

Even that it's not easy to announce a winner, what is the best Squier bass?

Why I love my Jazz Bass?

The tone, the looks and how easy it is to play, the neck is just about the right size.

Let's get a friendly discussion about the best bass - and let's try to keep it clean and neat

I like this thread, and I've heard good things about the bass you own. We just got those here at my local dealer so I might down at some point and check 'em out.

For me, I owned two Squiers once before selling them (mainly cos I didn't play them as much anymore), a black Affinity P and a VM Jazz in natural. I'm a strict P-Bass player so looking back at it, the Affinity was my favorite of the two because I seem to remember that it had a fairly large neck, and I love big necks. Made some mods but they were necessary. It was a beast.

My VM was awesome. Became my main player for a while but like I said, I'm a P-Bass guy so it quickly took the back seat.

I had a '78 Fender Musicmaster bass for about 12 years, my only bass, my workhorse, never thought there'd be a better one for me. But about 2 yrs ago I snagged a '97 Squier Musicmaster bass off CL. Gotta say, I actually prefer it to the Fender. Slimmer and more comfortable neck, string through body seems to give it a better bottom end and the pickup was great right out of the chute. The Fender has a replacement Seymour Duncan I put in rather then the original Strat 6 pole that was in there.

And from a cosmetic standpoint, the matched paint headstock is a great touch, looks very classy. I also put a gray/blk pearl pickguard on instead of the white one and that also looks great. Love my Squier, $100 for the bass :D , $50 for the pickguard and it's a great player!

You were lucky to find one, they made them for about a year or so, and then replaced it with the Bronco - or was it the Mustang, I can't remember.

Better hold on to it :D

You bet I will. At the time I found it I had my '78 Fender and an SX Short Scale Jazz as my backup. Didn't need another bass...but when I saw that for $100, how could I NOT buy it right?

I think they were replaced by the Bronco, big step down quality wise from what I've seen, the Squier is my favorite of my 3 now. 8)

Ive owned many basses in my time as a bassist. I always seem to come back to fender/squier. every time! My favorite squier of all time is..... defiantly this baby right here!

Image

The squier vintage modified jazz bass! Its such an amazing playing and sounding bass! it is a must buy for anybody who plays fender/squier. it sounds so so so good! so clear..so clean and crisp. however..I have a bone to pick with you..I know you said lets keep this clean..but im sorry, i can't

Ok, so you said you wouldn't spend the money on a fender american standard... I respect that, i honestly do! i felt the same EXACT way you do....until...that's right i saved my money like crazy, and at the time i had 3 different squier basses. I figured, why not just save and get the real deal! so i did! i am now a proud owner of an 08 Fender American Standard Jazz Bass. let me tell you, it may look the same..and almost sound the same..but they really are not the same..at all! I am going to say this, and i mean it in the best way possible. do your self a favor and save your money dude and get at least ONE american standard bass of your choice..it will change your life! it changed mine! and trust me dude..i LOVE squiers...however, when it comes down to the line, nothing beats an american standard. thats all im going to say. the choice is yours!

Well put. I just might reconsider, and go to the shop one day, and try out another Fender Standard. I might be suprised and want one
