I have just acquired a used bass, offered as a Squier, but I can find no reference or serial number anywhere confirming it as a squier. The seller assumed it was a squier as it came with a Squier practice amp. Is there any way to verify it's origin ? It plays quite sweetly although it's had a hard life. There's no reference to Fender either. :?:

Can you post a few pictures of it? Namely, full body, neck, headstock (front and back).

That might help identify it.

Haha, it works.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem like a Squier to me. Because the neck is clearly not a Fender/Squier made neck, I can only assume that maybe the body is the only bit of the original Squier this is labeled as.

Also, I counted 11 holes in that pickguard. I've never seen Squier offer 11-hole pickguards.

:(

That confirms my impression. None the less, it plays nicely for my needs as an amateur, and it was the right price. I work in a hobby workshop and have made my own custom acoustic/electric bass, so a refurbish won't be a problem. I just have to find a bridge cover now.
Thanks heaps for the help and insight.
