dude screwed up the pickguard, but he's going to be sending me another one.

(supposed to only have one knob hole)

That's pretty sharp looking. Never seen a Bronco Bass in person.

My Squier MM will be white w/blue pearl, just a reversal, and I'll post photos when it's done.

I did a few mods to my CV 50's Precision.
3-ply parchment pickguard
SD QP pickup
New pots, cap and wiring
"Football" jack plate
Jaguar knobs
Fender flatwounds
and last but not least- copper tape shielding:

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but not new to Squier Bass Guitars. My mother bought this cheap little Squier for me when I was 14 back in 1991. I have owned it ever since. This is the absolute bottom of the bucket model Squier II (Made in Korea) in 1989.

I have since made a few modifications as you can see. Added the pick up and bridge covers and finger rail. Also added Schaller tuning pegs and replaced the pickups with Seymour Duncans and have it stringed with a nice set of flatwounds.

Though it is the bottom of the line, it plays like a dream. I have received several comments from others around my area that have asked to play with it that they love it. The neck on it is something else. I have had a few unsolicited offers for it.....but I will never part with it that is for sure. It plays too well.

Cheers~

I have a 1989 MIK Squier II P-Bass also (in white) that I bought used about 14 years ago. It has Schaller tuners, so now I'm guessing it's been modified. I would upgrade the pup to a Fender, but maybe that's already been done. Is there a way to identify what kind of pup it has, Squier, Fender or other?

I'd post a pic if someone could tell me how!

Thanks

I put a Fender Vintage '62 pickup in it (the Fender pickup is a bit smaller than the metric Korean pickup, but the gap isn't significant) 250K pots to replace the 500K pots and a 0.022 Cap.
Great tone! Quite an improvement

Will this combo work well :
Squier Deluxe Active Jazz IV string.

Swap out the Stock pups with Dimarzio Model J's using the Squier stock electronics ?

I never put this updated photo on as promised, and by now the white Musicmaster is long gone. But I did take that blue/gray pickguard on my black Musicmaster so here's a photo of my current lineup. Better late then never 8)

Sadly, I don't own any Squires yet, but I intend to get a few and mod them. These are my plans.

VM Jag, white finish.
Pull off the pickguard,
Basslines QP PJ set,
Black Hipshot A style bridge,
Black Hipshot HB7 tuners,
Black Hipshot O-Ring stacked control knobs
and I'll hand paint the control plate black.

Mike Dirnt P, black finish.
Pull off the pickguard,
DiMarzio Split P,
Stellartone Tonestyler,
Chrome Hipshot A style bridge,
Chrome Hipshot HB7 tuners,
Chrome Hipshot O-Ring control knobs.

VM Jazz V
Pull off the pickguard,
Basslines QP 5-string set,
Stellartone Tonestyler,
Black Hipshot A style bridge
Black Hipshot HB7 tuners,
Black Hipshot O-Ring control knobs,
and a hand painted black control plate.

Perhaps a stupid question, but why plan all these mods before you even get a Squier?

Because I want a bunch of Fenders/Squires and I like to mod my basses...

I've modded the s**t out of the two basses I own. The set up I posted for the Mike Dirnt P is almost point for point what I did to my Yamaha RBX260, except I used an active EMG P and a set Ultralight tuners.

Also, I tend to be a forward thinker. I never do anything with out a plan in mind and a goal or list of goals. I see a bass I want and the first thing I think is "How am I gonna mod this?"
