First off ,Hi, I'm Craig (or fluffy, yer choice) and I've been having some fun tricking out my affinity P Bass. for starts it was an impulse buy but I decided instead of selling it I'd upgrade it.Sooooo... here goes : I'm replicating a '59 P Bass :D :D :D
it's in the shop as we speak getting an annodized gold pick guard, chrome bridge and pick up covers and the thumb rest, as for the pick ups out with the stock and in with Fender Original P Bass pick ups. for strings I'm putting on RotoSound swing bass 66's (I've played those for years and every bass I've ever owned gets and will get them  )
when she comes home from her surgery I'll post some piccies.
any one else had fun with their instruments???? I'd love to hear em.
I also tricked up a Squier Strat with a (purpously) horrible "aztec Gold" spray paint job beat it, nicked it scratched it up (aka vintage wear :o :o ) and put Fender Tex-Mex pick-ups in it. I cal it my "sleeper" cos it's the guitar equivalant of a 74 mustang with a 329 lol

Hey I'm Rez...mods so far just top hat knobs on my Vintage Modified from my '87 Fender(see sig), BadAss II, and by end of summer EMG HZ. I've replaced the strings with Fender flats .50 to .110. I'm having fun with it. For the money, I can't believe the quality. Oh yeah, I've been eyeing the Fender/Kahler tuners also for it. Nice to meet you Fluffy! :D

If you want to see modded Squier basses and learn more on how the mods were done, visit www.talkbass.com

Then search the bass site for squier. There's alot of pictures and information on all sorts of mods.

Hi, I have a Vintage modified fretless Squier with a badass II

Image

then after a year I replaced the neck with a made in japan block inlays w/ vintage frets, a very solid neck.

Image

replaced the pickups with a standard J bass pickups and electronics- I replaced the entire control plate (came from my other Fender standard jazz bass), then added pickup covers, pickguard, thumbrest and tah-dah!"THE VINTAGE LOOK". The tone slightly improved due to the solid-thicker neck and new electronics.

Image

I had to remove the Badass II bass bridge and install the threaded saddles because I just like the look and to make the bridge pickup cover fit.

:o hi, I'm thinking of starting a new project with this bass. I'm thinking of giving it the relic-road worn look, (the aged look) should I do it? anybody interested to see how its gonna look like? (before and after pics) it will include neck tinting (yellowish aged look).

I did a bit of relicing on my strat - look...

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/ ... hp?t=18179

Not very easy to get that look with poly paint though.

yeah the poly paint finnish of my bass is so thick and shinny It takes a lot of work to get that oxidized faded look, but so far I'm happy with the results, the neck... along with a few tricks turned yellowish tan! I'm so happy, I still need to do a lot of work with the chrome Hardware (oxidized rusty look) I'm still currently experimenting with chemical solutions that will age the hardware, here's some pics

I'll open a new forum thread for this relicing project maybe in a week after everything is done :)

Check out how this bass sounds in this video:

Hi I just got an affinity Jazz Bass, I got it for customization purposes only. I own other Fender Jazz Basses but after playing this Squier I was surprised on how it sounds, WOW sounds good! For under $200 I'll give it a "NOT BAD" excellent sustain and every note is balanced! BTW I got it sale.... :D

check out how it sounds here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilCw6o8yFGE

here's a picture of the bass
Image

and here's how I would want it to look like:
Image

I'm installing Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups hand wound.

It's gonna sound like the early 60's model Jazz bass.

I installed a third strap button (in 1960 the precision bass and the jazz bass had a strap button in the back of the headstock. Traditionally players used this button to help strap the bass vertically, allowing them to play as they where accustomed in their transition from dog house to electric bass.) By 1969, the button disappeared.
