Hi to all, my first post.
Have recently bought a Squier P-bass and could use some info on identifying the model.

Serial No. P020363 which is located on the top of the headstock under the Squier logo. Research tells me its '93-94.
Its a mid red colour with white scratch plate and rosewood fretboard.
It has narrow frets.
Black tophat pot knobs with 1-10 around the brim.
The stamp on the underside heel reads SQII-PBR.
The body is laminated but I understand that they used Basswood for it.
Apart from that theres nothing to write home about except to say that it is well made, the neck to pocket fit is damn near perfect. The body resonates beautifully.

I haven't even been able to find pics of it on the net so any info would be greatly appreciated. I'm intrigued. I'll try to get some pics uploaded soon.
Cheers Col.

I always wanted a MIJ Bass These are some of the best basses ever made I think they had great neck and built very well. What did you want to know? What you have with out pics is a Fender squier P bass. The ones that get crazy in price is the JV basses and they were made for two years in I think 1982-83

Yeah its a fine instrument.
Just a bit curious because I haven't seen any pics of these basses without knurled knobs and I wonder if because its '93-4 whether the thin frets might indicate that it is a reissue. Also the neck stamp... SQII-PBR I thought Squier 2's were made later.?? Does the PBR refer to a reissue model i.e. Precision Bass Reissue. Or just a reference to a blue ribbon beer?
Theres also the possibility that its mongrel parts bass.
Any ideas ?
Would post a pic but don't have a url for pics.
Cheers.

If anybody is still interested in this thread, I've just found a site that tells me my bass has the same layout i.e. head markings and other identifying marks as a Silver Series.
The only difference on the head is the absence of the Silver Series transfer or sticker.
Mine has the thin vintage frets as well.
I still wonder why mine has Strat style knobs. Or whether they're aftermarket.

Cheers Col.
