I'm looking to get a new bass in a few months. I want a Fender, and I really like the looks of the Squier CV '50s Precision Bass. How high is the quality? Is it as good as the CVC Telecaster? Over on the Tele board, they have been raving and raving about the CV series Telecaster. I recently played one and I was quite impressed. If the CV P-Bass is as good as the CVC, then that's the bass I want. The only question is whether I want butterscotch blonde to match my Tele or Lake Placid Blue.

They are great quality for the price. If you do go for it, the LPB is basswood, the BSB is pinewood. Try them out for yourself, even if something is suppose to be good, there are duds out there, just like if something is bad, some good ones are out there for them too. Good luck. Post pic when you get it.

Pretty much what PowerJazzBass said. I seriously considered getting one had I not got a Fender 51RI, and I hear nothing but great things about this bass. I'd go for it if I were you.

Garf, how's the 51 RI? It's a CIJ correct?

Yes sir, it is. A 2006 model if I'm not mistaken.

Its the best bass purchase I've made so far. Pretty awesome little beast even though it can only do so much as I mainly use it for classic rock and blues (the latter mostly). Fit, finish and electronics are great, neck is chunky which I like and the reverse tuners help it stay in tune (they're stiff).

Surprisingly though, I've read a lot about how the stock pickup booms on the E and A strings and is a little weak on the D and G strings. Mine has a great low end (not booming but considerably good) and the treble side is louder that I thought.
