I have a fender squier 5 string Jazz bass that 3 years old. it got knocked over and busted the G String tuner off. its a special tuner and it will cost quite a bit to replace i was wondering if i should just by a new Fender bass to replace it rather repair it. its in kindof rough condition.

Based on what you've said, if it "has one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel", maybe its time to invest in an newer, better instrument. On the other hand, a replaced machine head can be had used, it doesn't necessarily have to match the rest of the set to be 100% functional and is always cheaper than a new instrument.
