Take it for what it is, but on the Squier website, under the Vintage Modified bass section, I spotted a curious little link with the following info:

Quote:
A truly classic Fender® bass guitar model from the mid-1960s returns in the sleek, short-scale form of the Squier Vintage Modified Mustang Bass. The instrument honors its 1966 ancestor with a basswood body finished in Black or Three-color Sunburst, 19-fret maple neck and 30” scale perfect for players of all kinds who appreciate the comfort of a short-scale instrument.

Other features include a Duncan Designed™ split single-coil pickup, three-ply pickguard, chrome tuners and distinctive Mustang Bass four-saddle bridge. Superior tone, smooth playability, great comfort and fantastic value.

Now there was no image to accompany the info, but I think its a sure fire thing.

Thoughts?

dude the images are now on the site and it looks like a real fender mustang bass not like the jaguar bass which is beautiful but not like its fender counterpart... shame they didn't make new guitars this summer i expected more from the jazzmaster and jaguars

You can find pictures of both, the black and the sunburst models, if you Goggle "Squier Mustang Bass" in their images section.

The black one looks just like the Fender Blacktop basses. Black on black. The sunburst one is a little sweeter.

By the time I posted this, the site still hasn't updated the page with the pics. I'll give them a look now, hope they're as good looking as you guys make 'em out to be.

Definitely a nice bass.

This is nice.

This is good too, three separate sounds.

Which one do you recommend Ron?

If you've got the cash, I'd definitely go with the VT, if you only want to spend a couple hundred, the 3 channel programmable is great. They're all great, IMO you can't go wrong with any of them,

You know my #1 rule, play it before you buy it, if you can. I bought mine sight unseen and have NEVER regretted it, except that the 3 channel was only $10.00 more, lol.

I should splurge in this...I was thinking the base, but you said, going the next step is $10 more. Maybe I can wait and get the VT while amassing more cash ;)

I would sure like to get my hands on one of these Squier Mustangs and give it a test run. My Squier Musicmaster is a blast, almost feels more solid than my original Fender mm.

And I had a bass with a maple neck once and liked that alot so I'm anxious to find out more on these. No price info that I found, and when I followed the link to an online dealer I got "page not found."

At least they're being made now so the rest will follow right?

yeah it's likely... there are images and everything... there was a fender bass that didn't come out this year though (at least i don't think so) the 72 pawn shop bass though i think they put that bass in the classic series (classic 70's p bass)... but the mustang is definately coming ;)
