After some thinking, instead of buying the Squier VM Jaq, I will buy the Squier VM Jag Special Ed instead, the ones with out the block in lays on the neck...for $100 less. At first I was going to buy the one with the HB pup, but the reviews have not been kind, and I've not been able to find one to test. Let's discuss pro & con :)

PS. this is the one I'm looking at: http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com ... sku=H71306

Oh, I like this one too - in the Crimson Red Transparent! Years ago I had an EB3L (you know, the SG-shaped one by That Other Manufacturer) and I loved the finish... The PJ configuration and the stacked knobs are very neat 8)

yes, that's the color, but this doesn't have the stacked knobs. I think for 2 folds, it's not too bad of a deal, I might say, it's a great deal!!

Oh, my bad - this is the one with the JB knob arrangement, plus a bass boost knob. Of course. I'll have to try one of these - I'm generally allergic to active circuits - though I presume if you just turn the bass boost right down, you've effectively a passive JB circuit? Hmm. I think this isn't one to order online on spec

Oh, PVT, if you look @ my sig tho, I'm the active guy ;) Other than my VM, all the other basses of mine have a battery cavity. So yeah, this would be the one for me - did I mention $200

Yes, and you make them sound good too 8) But I'm v much old skool myself - Harvey Brooks, Pino Palladino, Jerome Arnold, those kind of guys... So I'm after that big, warm bottom end, and a nice growl in the midrange - you know the sound

For sure I do, just because I like the modern sound, doesn't mean I don't know my history ;) I did go to the local store, and they have what I want...how lucky is that?! NOT...I don't have the extra $200 to spend yet!!! :x :x :x :x

Have you ever considered the Original Japanese model ? I have seen them used or even brand new(the blemished models/2nd's) for like 475.00-500.00$,I know all too well that times are tough and I myself cannot even afford to buy pick-ups for a bass that I have been working on for years,so I too cannot justify buying the higher priced Japan one seeing I am not a highly acclaimed studio ace needing a perfectly sounding bass, its more like a bass tech/player who sits in his room talking about how cheesy this one player in a crazy famous band plays along with his P.O.S. bass.
So a budget bass is actually what I should have and one should be the number of basses I own(maybe two or...6)goodluck I hope you find the bass you seek young red-eye OOOPS... I mean Jedi,Jedi is what I meant to say.

Hahahaha...thank you master jedi you are! Honestly Adam, if I were to buy in that budget, I'd be looking for a used Hwy 1 P bass. Budget is the key, $200 is a low starting point. When I played it, it feels like a good solid bass. And for the Fender Jag fans, sorry, but this thing sounds really good. I was never a Jag fan till now, price has a lot to do with it of course ;)

You were right about the Squirer Forum being dead, too bad, we had some great conversation here over the years. I hope you land that Jag, it is sweet.

G.A.S. is terrible.

Hope you noticed how it was all fellow members that support each other? IT's really a good thing Rez.

BTW, I stopped there again tonight after work. The owner was there, we talked for a bit, he tried to see if his father's store in MI has it. They own 4 different stores in lower Upper MI and Northern WI, with Green Bay being the largest. His store is the only one that has it. He has another one on sale but it's not this one, it's the TB. I really have my heart set on the red one...Maybe I can take a loan out for this... :D
