Post subject: Squier jaguar bass special p/j

Just picked a new one. Played it against a fender standard p bass. Squier sounds much better. Nice neck. Smooth and thin. Thinking of upgrading the pickups. Any ideas? Much appreciated.

I wouldn't upgrade the pickups. I tried it out, and it sounded really good. Keep us posted what you decide to do. Welcome to the Forums.

i agree with PowerJazz, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
however, if you insist on switching them out, I'd look at:

Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound pu for the split-coil
and
Samarium Cobalt Noiseless Jazz pu for the bridge..

a friend of mine uses this setup and i must say, they sound pretty sweet :)
