I bid on a storage bin and there were 2 squier basses in the bin. Neither one had any hardware or electronics on it. One is "crafted in Indonesia" Squier precision bass, then in small letters, the word "standard". The other one is a "made in Mexico" and the head stock says Squier by Fender and in small letters "precision bass). I have several guitars but ironically I have no bass guitar. Which one would you keep?

Indonesia one, looks like a Cor-Tek made in 2003

MIMexico looks like it was made in '97

Without hardware neither one would have much resale value.

I'd keep both of them and rebuild them as project basses. Then I might sell them.

If I was going to sell one (body and neck), I'd probably sell the Mex. The newer Indonesia made Squier's have been pretty well built.

I have two Squier's both VM's (Jazz and Tele), both were made in Indonesia, both are great instruments.

Thanks, I was beginning to wonder if anyone was on this forum! Anyway I think your right, I'll just keep both of them, fix them up, play em, and see which one I like the best and sell the other one.

Yeah, there's not much exchange here, I check-in a couple of times a week.

Here's a link to start your search for bass parts:

http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/middle_bass.htm

Also, there is a lot of activity at www.talkbass.com They also have a very active classified section.

Good luck!

I agree with LuvMusic, being they're both Squiers, keep the newer one, fix it up both and sell the MIM. You just got a 2 free basses and might have parts paid for when you sell the other one. Good luck. Yeah very slow in this forum, everyone seems to be in the P or J bass forum. Even the "other" Fender bass forum gets more traffic. I too have a Squier, as noted on my sig.
