Seems there's a new addition th o the VM series, from all appearances it is pretty much the same except for the strat knobs, white inlays and an agathis body.

I guess my MB-5 has agatis body, can't say I'm real impressed, not saying that those of you who have basses with this type of wood and are happy, are wrong in your choices.

It is a really good looking bass.

Yeah, that bass came out about a month or two ago, along with the Jag and the amber P. I've heard a couple of bad reports, but most testimonials I've read have been good ones.
As far as the body wood goes, I'm one that has doubts about whether or not that has any significant effect on the sound, It's not a major consideration for me when buying a bass, unless it's plywood. That is a definite deal-killer for me. Oh, and balsa wood is right out! :D

Problem with soft wood is the strap buttons keep falling out.

It is a really good looking bass guitar lessons.

Well, my impression for this bass is that it is very versatile and great for all genres. I think it makes a good comparison to the Fender MIM jazz. This bass would be great for any beginner or intermediate players.

These cheesy Strat knobs can be easily upgraded with genuine bakelite American-made Jazz Bass types.
Fender updated their MIM Standards with these vintage-style knobs in 2003.

Stick a set of Custom Shop 1960s, throw in a thumbrest & ashtray covers and make your baby growl like a "real" Fender Jazz!
