It's now about 3:30 am EST, November 24, Wed. morning. I just checked MF and the listing is still NOT there. The only VM Jazz listing there is the lefty version, the regular is gone.

Glad it's not maple, that would have been too tempting.

Just a heads up, according to recent news releases from Squier (on FB or Twitter, I think), this bass:
Image
Is indeed a FSR (Factory Special Run) exclusive to Musician's Friend.

Hey Bats,

Read you review at MF. They list the sunburst as a color option with no mention of what wood is used. No matter, it's bound to be a keeper.

I imagine it's the same as the natural finished one, soft maple.

Hello,

Here's another Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass®. Not the aforementioned '70s version discussed there, but a new '60s style Jazz in 3-colour sunburst with Duncan Designed™ pickups and chrome knurled flat-top P-Bass® knobs.

Great news for southpaw aficionados, this bass is also available as a lefty.

SOLID!

Custom all the way.

In some cases Custom is the only way.

Hey everyone,
I'm new here but I saw the buzz about the new VM Jazz in sunburst and thought I'd share my story. I was all set to buy a Fender 70's reissue Jazz bass in sunburst with rosewood neck. I was tooling around the net and stumbled upon the new this year sunburst vintage modified with rosewood neck. I went to my local guitar store (not GC) and ask if theiy could get one. Low and behold, they had one in stock at their other store and sent it right over while I waited. I played it side by side with a Special Jazz bass from fender and couldn't tell the difference. I know the hardware may not be as heavy on a Squier, however, It is made in Indonesia and has duncan Designed pickups and except for the dot inlays looks exactly like the 70's reissue from Fender. Now it doesn't have the modified 70's pickup spacing like the 70's reissue but it sounds as good as a fender Jazz bass (American) and was a heck of a lot cheaper than an Am. Std Jazz bass. As you may have guessed, I bought it on the spot and It proudly hangs on the wall of my room. And I quit playing bass and moved back to guitar. I just wanted it because I had a MIJ Squier Jazz and, dumb me, I sold it and could kick myself for doing so. That was one Great Playing Bass! The VM series, made in Indonesia, is a great looking, great playing bass period! Squier VM Series are a way better series than the affinity or standard series for sure.

Congrats on your purchase!
No pic no bass :)

Sound is very good from these pups. The Duncan Designed is Duncan just made overseas. I wish it had the '70s pup spacing, but it does sound good. It gives the Fender(s) a run for the money. I am not a fan of agathis wood tho. Others don't have issues with it, just my preference I guess.

I've just got one of the 3 tone Sunburst Maple neck FSR's. Very, Very nice bass. I have changed the Bridge to a Badass II, only because I just like them! I await delivery of Standard Jazz Bass knobs, just cause I think they're nicer than the knurled chrome ones.

Played OK out of the box, pickups slightly high, quick fix.....

I'm very impressed with the recent quality of Squiers, our guitar player has a CV Tele, which is also very good quality.
