Me too, that's why I got one, but sunburst is cool, too if it's done well, and it's a very popular finish choice, this could be a very nice seller for Squier. It's already cause a good deal of buzz over at TalkBass (where I heard about it).

I'm wondering why the "working pros" haven't made any comments here lately. It gets me that someone has the b__ls to look down their noses at Squiers.

That should get a rise.

Notice it's not given as an option yet, and supposedly some people have called MF and were told the Sunburst VM J is "discontinued" (How can you discontinue a model that has never existed?) and it hasn't been announced by Squier yet. But, some of you may remember info and pics about the the Squier Jag had been released about a month or so before the official announcement. The thing is, MF has done this before, prematurely listed an item with incorrect info or missing options, only to be taken down for a couple of days, then relisted with the correct information. So, I think sometime in the next week or two, you will be able to get a VM Jazz in a sunburst finish. Cool, huh?

Oh, oh, something shiny has caught your attention.

Yes it's cool. I wish it would have been available when I bought mine, my Precision and VM look like twins and I'm not the biggest fan of natural finish. Everyone thinks I did it on purpose.

When you're as big as MF,you have to expect some errors. I'm sure they keep on updating their systems and implementing changes to become "better". Technology is a great thing if it works all the time.

How long after they're availabe will you order one, Bats?

I love the natural finishes. And I have the amber VM P, too, it looks like the '78 Fender P-bass that I had that I loved (except it had a rw fretboard), and I do call them "The Twins", LOL!
Should look great together on stage (if I ever get there!)

Like I said before, they've done this before, prematurely put up a listing for an instrument either with errors, or that had not been released yet (funny enough, those were Squiers, too, the Jag and the amber P!) The listings were taken down after a few days, then put back up later corrected and available, which is what makes me think this is legit.

Not gonna do it. I already have too many instruments for my teeny apartment. Besides, I'm perfectly happy with the VM J I have already (that sunburst one sure is pretty, tho!).

Bat - I'm digging that! Wonder is this a FSR thing exclusively from MF or do they only do that with Fenders??

I think FSR is Fender only, but I could be wrong. But, I suspect this will be a regular part of Squier's line once it's officially released.

I got my FSR Precision at Guitar Center. I think Sam Ash had them before when I was considering a FSR Jazz, I may be wrong about that.

Sunburst sure is pretty Bats, lmao! How much room do you really need for a bass, think of it as giving it a loving home.

I was out shopping tonight and something shiny caught my eye, it was only a mechanical pencil. Of my vices, Mechanical pencils are first, pens are next then instruments, glad they're in that order.

Post the pics when it arrives.

Fender only - FSR = Fender Special Run

Bat, I wonder what the body will be from for the VM Sunburst? Another agathis? Basswood? It's not going to be maple for sure.

Good question. I don't know, we'll have to wait and see.

You haven't seen my apartment, there really isn't any more room!

I'm kinda like that with superhero action figures (ahem)

Not gonna happen. As much as I would love to (there are literally DOZENS of basses of different kinds I would love to own)... it would really be foolish of me to get yet another bass in my current situation. This last purchase of the amber VM P was kinda my "last hurrah", if you will.

(ahem) lol, sorry Bats, just couldn't resist. We all seem to have a problem with wanting all the basses, it could be worse. We're not alone,

Yah, I've noticed that. I do admit to desiring more basses than I can afford, and don't have time or room for. Let's see, a partial list would be ...
Squier VM Precison TB (the one with the mudbucker)
Fender American Standard P-bass
Epiphone Flying V, and EB-3L
Fender Tony Franklin Fretted P-bass
B.C. Rich Mockingbird.
Some kind of G+L
Then maybe, just for fun some kind of 5-er, and maybe a Squier VM fretless Jazz, and so on, and so on, and so on ...
And probably a number of different amps as well.
Oh, and the sunburst VM Jazz as well, might as well throw that into the mix, LOL!

Quick update:
The listing for the Squier Vintage Modified Jazz bass has disappeared from the Musician's Friend website. If they are going to go with their usual procedure, look for the listing to reappear in a few days with the sunburst finish as an option finally available for purchase.
