Does anyone use Stainless Steel Rounds in their Maple Bodied VM Jazz Bass? I mean they're bright in nature i was wondering if any of you used bright strings on them? I only used them with nickels..

I use stainless steel EC. It's bright. But it works for me, I luv the brightness of it. I play heavy music most of the time tho. Currently I have DR HiBeams on them .45 - .105 gauge.

I haven't tried them on my Squier, but on my MIA Jazz, I have Dean Markley Blue Steels, which I really like. Even after they "dull down" a little, they sound great. I am thinking of trying them on the VM Jazz.

The problem with the Fender stainless, no consistency. The newer ones I got sounds dull from the get go. So after going thru the rest of the strings, I'm switching back to DR strings.

Nice video, PJB! Love that "footstep" groove towards the end. Those are VERY bright strings - sounds almost like you're using a pick rather than fingers. Saying that, Hartke are bright amps anyway. I sometimes use a small Hartke as a stage monitor in church, and I always have to knock the treble way back to even approximate what the congregation are hearing over the main system speakers!

Thanks PVTele. Yeah the VM's got DR's on em now. I'll be switching back to DR's. The last long too. Pricey, but not as pricey as some out there.

I've seen a youtube video, a VM with DR Fatbeams, how are they compared to the Hi Beam? I heard they had a lot more bottom and less highs than the Hi Beams?

I can't tell you about the Fatbeams, I've always used the hibeams. I need the brightness to cut in the mix of the guitar being so thick in the band. Metal/Hardcore crossover.

as much as i tried them with Fender 7250 they sounded a bit dull, then the sunbeams sounded sweet... maybe I'll give the hi beams a chance..

that's the problem EC, the Fender strings, you can catch a break but you might not...no consistency - for me. Some good batch, some bad. Great price, but lots of "I hope it's a good batch now..."

Good luck with the HiBeams!
