Very nice, excellent choice. I know how much I like my VM Jazz, considering you already have a Jazz and rate this one higher, I have to get out and try one, which isn't good.

Should I stop posting for an extended period of time, either I'm dead or severely injured because Wifey beat me with a new bass :D.

At least the bass will hold up well.

Well, to be fair the only reasons I rate the Precision a little higher is:
A. At this point, I've figured out I'm more of a Precision guy than a Jazz guy. Nothing wrong with Jazzes, I like them too, I just feel more comfortable with the P-bass.
B. There were a couple of spots on the Jazz's neck that were perhaps not quite as smooth as the rest, not bad, just barely noticeable, and there was a bit of sloppiness around a couple of the block markers where they had to use filler, but this was only noticeable under magnification. Neither is any kind of problem, it's just because of these issues the neck on the Jazz is not quite as well done as my new P-bass, the finish on the P-bass's neck is flawless. It's really nothing to complain about, those things do nothing to lessen my enjoyment of the VM Jazz, and I still consider it an excellent bass. I would get it again if I had to.

Bathead -

I went into GC yesterday and they had one of the new VM P's. What a great bass!

I also like the color, in person, very much. The camera doesn't seem to be able to capture it, as it is much deeper than any of the pictures I've seen.

Enjoy it!

Agreed, you can really only appreciate the nicely graned wood in person.
HEADS UP:
One thing I would encourage people thinking of getting one of these to look out for: A poster on the TB forum showed a pic of one he picked up at a store, and it had a nice bookmatched flamed maple body, apparently pure dumb luck on his part, it didn't cost anymore, so it doesn't appear to be a special run, just the luck of the draw. So, keep your eyes peeled.

I was at the music store today cking to see if my EMG are coming soon - they are, within 2 weeks :D - so while I was there I played the new VM, nice feel, nice everything really...played with 2 other Fenders - the Geddy Lee in burst, not black, really nice too. Also, played with the Sonoran acoustic, nice bass, love the feel of the neck and the look. Amazing stuff coming out of China now a days. But finally the EMG pups are going to be here, no soldering, all quick connect, next year I'll up grade to the new top line EMG JVX and thinking of putting these in my VM, which aren't up for sale anymore :)
