Has anyone gotten a hold of one of these newer natural finished VM P's? I'm dying to hear about this bass, but every one seems all hopped up about the new Jag and I'm afraid the new P is getting ignored.

Hence my interest. It would be a perfect complement to my natural finished VM Jazz.

I was thinking the same thing, but I'm going with selling my VM 70s and modding my MIM instead.

Well, I will be ordering one tomorrow from Musician's Friend, and I should get it next week. If anyone is interested, I will post a pic or two and a quick preliminary review when I get it.

It's actually an amber translucent finish which is close to natural. I just wanted to make sure you knew you weren't getting a true 'natural' finish like on the Jazz.

I would have LOVED to have seen this style in the Classic Vibe line. LOVED it!!

If that's true, it's close enough. The amber doesn't look all that different from natural, perhaps a bit darker, as if it has aged somewhat, which is cool by me. We'll see when I get it.

Tracking number says I should get it Tuesday, I'll probably have something to post either Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.
I'm giddy with anticipation.

According to Squier's own website specs, you are correct sir.
I believe this bass was meant from the beginning to be a companion to the VM J. I think they may be trying to repeat the success of the Jazz, as it seems every online store I checked out when I was buying mine, it was the #1 best selling Squier bass they had. I'd be willing to bet a good percentage of the buyers of the new VM P probably already own the VM J, like me.
