I like it. Mine is chrome, is your's black? Not sure here the lighting on the pic kinda throw the color off. I have the Fender top hat (black) knobs on mine too - off of my '87 PJBass Spc.

Yes, it's black. I also have Fender tapewound strings on it, they are also black. Besides the sound improvement, provides some nice visual contrast.

Everything else is still stock. I'm saving my GAS money for a Squier VM telecaster bass. 8)

That's cool, I've used those on my Fender awhile back. I have DR Black Beauties on 'em now, and 9050m flat wound on the VM.

With a good setup it's VERY playable as equipped. I'd recommend buying it "as is" and playing it for awhile. Then make a decision.

If you want to see pictures of Squier VM basses that have been modded (serious mods, mostly for fun) check-out the bass forum at www.talkbass.com

Here you go. Read through the posts, they link you to other Squier mod threads.

Hope this helps!

Those are pretty nice basses. I've done similar changes to yours. This summer I'm going EMG HZ, and going with the Fender/Schaller tuners. I'm also thinking of doing the black screws, unless I decide to go with the smoked mirror pg. :)
