One of my favorite basses!! I posted a quick review on YouTube and thought I'd post it here also. Please forgive me regarding the "block inlays." I thought they were painted on at first...

I too thought the black blocks were painted on (like everyone was saying) untill I tried to remove one!
It did'nt come off :!:

You can't even tell I tried! .... I was very careful not to damage the neck.

Hi guys,
Have you seen the new vintage modified Jazz bass that's 3 tone sunburst with the Rosewood neck? these were released in Jan of this year. I was able to get one and matched it against a Fender Jazz special Bass. This bass played as good, sounded as good and looks as good as the Fender 70's reissue bass. expect for the fact that it has dot inlays instead of the blocks is the only difference! it even as the tortoise shell pick guard! It's a nice bass and a whole lot cheaper than it's mexican counterpart. If you get a chance to play one, go for it. I think you will be surprised!

Rez,

I saw you pic with your VM, it looks really good. One question, is there a channel cut out between the pick-ups?

Thanks Ron,

the hole is huge on the VM for the neck pup. like a hole big enough for a soapbar pup. No channel cut out between the pup and the control plate tho, which I like.

Very nice.

Thanks.

I (today) installed a Push-Pull pot for Series/parallel wiring. Not too sure if I like it or not - but I'll work with it some more tomorrow and try to find some love for it.

With this mod you'll get a wider variety of tonal possibilities. Your bass will sound much like a Precision.

I think the push-pull pot you've installed is similar to Fender's own S-1 switching system.

I purchased the Vintage Modified Jazz with the Duncan Designed Pick ups. My wife said I could actually buy the Geddy Lee Signature Fender, but I just did not want to spend that much money at the time.(about $1000 at Guitar Center for the American Made Fender). $297 for the Squier.
I really like the Squier. I set it up for quite low action and set the intonation, it was a little off. It plays great. I play it through an Acoustic B200 and a Fender Rumble 60W ganged together through an A/B switch. Sounds Great! Especially with the Rotosound RS66's I put on. Someday I will get the Jazz Fender that Geddy Lee uses, until then I am happy with the Squier and the members of band I am in say it sounds just fine. It has a great Metallic twang with the Rotosounds.

I have the VM Jazz, playng through a Kustom KB 100 and a Rumble 60 the same way. I even have the same strings on it.

Great bass, just needed set up.

Congrats!
