Thinking bout swaping the pickups for Seymour Duncan 1/4 Pounders, as they are already Duncan Designed pickups will it make much difference?

Wait until you get it before you decide. You may pleasantly surprised. I've seen way too many people, including myself, who really like the stock DD pups.

i personally prefer the VMs stock... well the pickups i guess are designed to counter the brightness of the maple wood and neck.. so the pickups would sound a little darker... and strings also play a vital role... i would go with warm nickels or maybe flatwounds..

Agreed. When I got my VM Jazz, I had wanted to get back to flatwound strings, as I was looking to ge a more"vintage" tone, the only strings that appealed to me where I got the bass (Sweetwater) were Fender flats, they were OK, but not great. I have since gotten GHS Stainless Steel Precision flats on another bass, they were just what I was looking for, so I got a set for my VM Jazz, and those strings along with the stock Duncan Designed pickups is a HUGE improvement.

changing strings would be cheaper than changing pickups

there is some post over here that said the VM has 500k pots already. I did have flats on mine when I first changed strings, but stainless rounds is my choice of weapon. It works well for the music I play.

Seriously. Putting a Fender decal on a Squier bass? That is really lame, IMO.

That's all fine, you didn't put or putting a Fender logo made for it.
